What an inspiring day! On September 10, we had the honor of welcoming a high-ranking Dutch business delegation to Park Innovaare and the Paul Scherrer Institute PSI. In addition to numerous exciting companies from the deep tech sector, the delegation included Michiel Sweers, Deputy Minister for Foreign Trade of the Netherlands, Karin Mössenlechner, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Switzerland, and Ingrid Thijssen, President of VNO-NCW (Industry and Employers' Association). The aim of the mission: deepen cooperation in the semiconductor industry and to network our innovation ecosystems more closely with each other.
A day full of innovation and exchange
The central role of semiconductors in digital innovation – from AI to clean energy – was discussed, as were future opportunities for further cooperation in the areas of research, advanced manufacturing, and talent development. The delegation also visited the modernized Swiss Light Source SLS at the Paul Scherrer Institute PSI, where intensive X-ray light is used to analyze semiconductor chips at the nanoscale in order to drive innovation in the high-tech industry.
Strengths that complement each other perfectly
The mission makes it clear: together, we can strengthen Europe's role in global semiconductor value creation and accelerate digital and sustainable innovation. The Netherlands has a fully integrated semiconductor chain, from design to production. Switzerland excels in niche areas such as smart sensors and energy-efficient chip design. Together, this creates a strong, complementary partner network that accelerates innovation.
♥️ A big thank you goes to all the partners who made the day possible, especially VDL ETG Switzerland and PSI Industry Relations, as well as the numerous Dutch organizations and companies.
