On January 26, 2026, Park Innovaare once again had the pleasure of welcoming Innovate UK and representatives from ten leading British companies working on innovative solutions for the future of semiconductor technology.
The visit took place as part of the Global Business Innovation Programme (GBIP), through which Innovate UK supports high-growth companies in entering international markets and specifically promotes collaborations with leading innovation ecosystems.
Semiconductors are among the UK’s six "Frontier Technologies" and play a central role in key future technologies. Against this backdrop, the visit provided an ideal platform to introduce the British companies to the semiconductor and photonics ecosystem of Park Innovaare and the Paul Scherrer Institute PSI, while intensifying exchange with Swiss stakeholders.
The day began with insights into the Semicon Metrology Innovation Hub at Park Innovaare as well as PSI’s research activities, including the Laboratory for X-Ray Nanoscience and Technologies and the Integrated Photonics and Nanoscale Electronics Group. These presentations were complemented by introductory sessions from SwissPIC and an overview of Innovate UK’s programs and funding instruments.
A highlight of the program was the rapid-fire pitches by the British companies and selected firms from the Park Innovaare ecosystem. Participants included the Swiss Photonics Integration Center (SwissPIC), DECTRIS, cross-ING, XRnanotech, YQuantum, UniversalLab, and VDL Enabling Technologies Group (ETG). The concise presentations offered a focused overview of technological expertise, application fields, and concrete potential for cooperation.
Park Innovaare is delighted with the intensive professional exchange and the numerous conversations initiated. Such international encounters strengthen the connection between research and industry and create the foundation for future joint innovation projects in the fields of semiconductors and photonics.
