Accelerator Technologies AG, one of the Member Companies of the Switzerland Innovation Park Innovaare technology and innovation centre, and the government of the Mexican state of Hidalgo have agreed to cooperate on the construction of a synchrotron light source in Mexico. The signing of the agreement took place on April 29, 2022. 

The upcoming cooperation will incorporate the experience of the Paul Scherrer Institut PSI in the construction and operation of the Swiss Light Source SLS.

International cooperation in research and innovation is an essential factor for a successful economy in. Paul Scherrer Institut PSI, with its unique ensemble of large-scale research facilities, together with Switzerland Innovation Park Innovaare, the Kanton Aargau innovation campus for technology-oriented companies, provide an ideal basis for this. The cooperation now agreed with the high-ranking Mexican delegation lead by H.E. Omar Fayad, governor of the Mexican federal state of #Hidalgo, is further proof of the internationally sought-after know-how of both Switzerland Innovation Park Innovaare and Paul Scherrer Institut PSI.

The signing of the contract took place during a day-long event and official welcome program by PSI and AT. Delegation participants took a tour of the PSI site and visited the SLS, SwissFEL and the Center for Proton Therapy. A final handshake after the signing of the cooperation agreement sets the direction – Central America also wants to follow innovation in terms of research. 

We congratulate Dr. Jens Rehanek, CEO of AT and Mexican province of Hidalgo on this successful conclusion of the contract and are pleased that AT has succeeded in further commercializing its excellent competences.
