Novel Accelerators for Electron Diffraction

ED Workshopt at PARK INNOVAARE

Understanding how matter creates life requires observing living cells with atomic detail. One possibility that has received significant attention in recent years is to observe the scattering of electrons on the molecules. Electron Diffraction holds a lot of possibilities for chemistry and pharmaceutical industry. To help the industry unlock them and to evaluate in which areas novel acceleration techniques could bring forward the research in this area, the divisions for biology as well as large research facilities of the Paul Scherrer Institute PSI, in collaboration with Advanced Accelerator Technologies, launches a workshop "Novel Accelerators for Electron Diffraction" at PARK INNOVAARE.

Info Event – Funding | Non-dilutive instruments

PARK INNOVAARE Funding

With a special focus on changes in EU grants: SME Instrument & Accelerator

The question of whether companies will be successful in innovation largely depends on their access to the necessary financial resources. Particularly interesting in this context are those sources that directly benefit the companies and do not result in a dilution of their own company shares (i.e. non-dilutive) and/or show a non-monetary added value which is potentially significant. Such instruments and possibilities do indeed exist, and we would like to introduce them to you.

Since the beginning of 2017, Switzerland has had access to two financing instruments through the EU program «Horizon 2020»: the SME Instrument and the FTI. With those instruments up to 3 Mio EUR can be obtained, with or without the participation of academic partners. This year, the EU made some changes to the program allowing for equity co-investment up to 15 Mio EUR. Join us for our info-event to learn more about the changes in the program and other funding instruments available in the region.

About the Event:

Drug discovery has come a long way from guess work to a structural and targeted approach to finding new and better remedies. In order to see the big picture and to develop new drugs, companies need to stay up to date about the latest discoveries in genomics, proteomics, structural or quantitative biology. The industry must translate the scientific efforts into a new innovative product.

At SWITZERLAND INNOVATION, such interdisciplinary collaborations between science and industry can flourish, thus finding keys and  pathways to more precise medicine and bring drug discovery into a new era. Together with the Swiss Business Hub China, SWITZERLAND INNOVATION is committed to promote Switzerland as a location for R&D and innovation. International corporations such as Roche, Novartis, and Actelion (J&J), have their home base and global research centers in Switzerland. Other leading biotech and pharmaceutical companies — many of them from the US — including AC Immune, Alnylam, Amgen, Biogen, Bluebird, Fosun, Luye Pharma, Prothena, or Tesaro have chosen Switzerland as an R&D location. Together with Novartis and Roche as the incumbent players, they attract many highly skilled experts from all over the world.

 Program Rundown:
14.00 – 14.30   Registration
14.30 – 15.30   Key note speaches: Prof. Christoph Hock and Prof. Michael Hennig

Heat and Electricity Storage 5th Symposium of the SCCER & 33rd PSI Electrochemistry Symposium

More and more electricity is being generated by wind and solar. A great step forward towards achieving Energy Strategy 2050 goals. Nevertheless, to transform this vision to reality, a second step, the large-scale energy storage has to be taken and new services and products, associated with new or changed industrial players will find their place in the future. In light of this context, Swiss Competence Center for Energy Research (SCCER) and Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), in partnership with PARK INNOVAARE, invite all the actors to join the 5th heat and energy storage symposium and 33rd PSI Electrochemistry Symposium.
